I grew up in Portland, Oregon, where I was actively involved in various sports and became a competitive fencer. In 2003, I joined the fencing team at Penn State University, earning NCAA All-American honors in 2004 and 2007, the year Penn State captured the NCAA National Championship.

My coaching career began at Northwestern University and the University of Notre Dame, where I worked with multiple All-Americans and contributed to a National Championship win. As a private coach in Chicago and Portland, I mentored youth fencers and coached athletes at regional tournaments, NACs, and international competitions. Several of my athletes have earned regional, national, and international medals, and two qualified for the 2024 Olympic Games.
